Online Customer Care Increases Sales

There is an old adage that goes something like, “It’s harder to get a new customer than it is to take care of an existing one.” It is so true. In fact, statistics show it can be 6 to 7 times more costly to acquire a new customer than to retain an existing customer.

If someone is already a customer, you want to keep them and make them happy. So they continue to be a customer. It is easier to keep a customer, than it is to get a new one. Use internet marketing techniques to keep your existing customers happy. Here are a few tips on how to do this:

• Create a loyalty program. Make it easy, rewarding, and let the client use the internet to participate and track their rewards and benefits.

• Create contests and giveaways for both existing and new customers. However, you want to add a level, make levels easier to achieve, or add a twist for your existing clientele. Make sure that the existing customers know that they are receiving special treatment.

• Create users group or a “customer only” section of your website. The more you can engage your customers and allow them to feel as if they belong to your “family” – the more likely they are to keep being a customer and to refer their friends and family. (Consider a reward program for referrals!)

• Ask for testimonials and make sure you use them. If you’re customers are happy, use them in both text and video testimonials that are proudly displayed on your website. Make sure to ask for referrals and point them to the referral program you’ve created. This can be one of the most effective ways of getting new customers.
