Increase your search engine rankings – Title

When it comes to getting those coveted clicks, your title is one of the most important elements, as it’s normally the first thing people see, and it tells what your page is actually about. Making sure your Google listing is optimised and stands out is important to get people to want to visit your site.¬†When coming up with a title it’s important to keep three key points in mind, short, relevant and appealing.

Your title needs to be short and to the point as most search engines only show about 55 characters, and you don’t want any relevant information to be cut off. Make sure you get all your keywords in at the beginning and add from there. The below example of a search result for Chocolate Cake stood out to us for several reasons

Stay on topic and keep your title relevant to your copy. Choose a keyword and use that word in the title and in the first couple of sentences of your page as this helps search engines and users pick up your post.Screen Shot 2015-10-27 at 12.30.42

Lastly, make your title appealing. Using a call to action, promotional words or capitalising key words or letters can really make your title stand out while still letting people know what your page is about. In the chocolate cake example above, they’ve added ‘{Ever}’ which sets the title apart from other search results.
