Import email subscribers

This tutorial has been split into 3 sections:

1. Exporting a list of your users.
2. Editing the exported file.
3. Importing the edited file with the email addresses

Export a list of your users.

  1. Open your stores admin panel and log in.
  2. Click import/export.eCommWeb
  3. Click ‘Export data’.eCommWeb
  4. Select ‘Comma’ from the ‘CSV delimiter’ drop down box and then tick the ‘Users’ tickbox.eCommWeb
  5. Click ‘Export’eCommWeb
  6. The website will now create a file, while it is working you should see something like this:

  7. When the website has finished making the file, it will load a page with a list of exported files at the bottom of the page. If there are more than one, click on the one at the top of the list, as this is the one that has just been created.eCommWeb
  8. Click ‘OK’ to save the file
  9. Choose a suitable place to save the file and click ‘Save’

Editing the exported file

  1. Open the file we just saved in the export tutorial with a suitable spreadsheet program. Microsoft Excel is a good choice. In this tutorial I am using Googledocs Spreadsheet which is very similar to Microsoft Excel.
  2. Select all of the columns to the left of the ‘EMAIL’ column and right click. Delete these selected columns.

  3. Do the same to all of the ones to the right of the ‘EMAIL’ column, so that it is the only one remaining.
  4. Now select all of the rows above the first email, right click and choose ‘Delete’.

  5. Save the spreadsheet as a new file in a place you can easily find.

Editing the exported file

  1. Open your stores admin panel and log in.
  2. Click ‘News management’.

  3. Click on the News List you want to add the subscribers to.

  4. Click on ‘Subscriptions’.

  5. Click ‘Browse’

  6. Select the file that you saved at the end of the ‘Preparing the spreadsheet’ tutorial and click ‘Open’.

  7. Finally click ‘Import’.
    eCommWebAll of the email addresses should now be imported and added to the newsletter.
