Twitter is Changing 140 Character Tweet Limit

A hot point of contention has been that adding images or other media to your tweet will eat up 24 characters of your 140 character limit.

If you’re adding a link as well (which takes up 23 characters) you are then down to just 93 characters to get your point across. Media tweets are great for standing out in peoples feeds, and often times tweets with a photo or video have more engagement; comments, likes and re-tweets. The new changes will not take away any characters for an added photo or video, giving you more room to get your point across while still allowing you to compose eye catching tweets.

As you can see from the example above, after adding a photo, a link, and a relevant hashtag, there were just 77 characters left to use. When the new changes come about, those extra 24 characters that photos take up can be used to add more content or hashtags to reach a wider audience.
