What this name is good for

Three characters, and that is the entire pitch. Short domains are finite, they stopped being available a long time ago, and the ones still in circulation are mostly held by people waiting for the right offer. If length is what you are after, this is as good as the .co.uk space gets.

Because it describes nothing, it can become anything. The strongest case is a business whose initials are SG and which is tired of typing something long — the second-generation family firm, the partnership of two surnames, the security group, the consultancy that has been S G Something Limited since 1994. Two-plus-initials reads as established rather than invented.

Short names also earn their keep in places where every character costs. A link somebody has to read out on the phone. A URL printed on a van door or the back of a shirt. A QR code with fewer modules and so a cleaner scan. A shortener for a business that posts a lot of links and does not want to hand that traffic to bit.ly. An email address a customer can take down first time without asking you to spell it.

Whoever buys it will know what they want it for. That is usually how the short ones go.

If you would rather we built something on it

A domain on its own is a name and nothing else. If you want the site as well, that is what we do all day — we can have something live and selling on this name rather than leaving it pointing at nothing. How we build sites
